6 Physical Therapy Tips & Tricks For Optimal Health

physical therapy and happiness

A healthy body is a happy body. With that being said, I often see people neglecting simple health guidelines and later expressing surprise when they realize they are unhappy. It is indeed a mystery. In light of this, I have decided to list down my basic physical therapy health guidelines that help me optimize my physical happiness.

1. Healthy Diet

Most diets work, at least in the short-term, states Matt Fitzgerald, author of Diet Cults. We can even eat unhealthy food and still look healthy and happy for a while. However, in the long-term, consuming unhealthy food can lead to various health complications that will ultimately affect our happiness.

And while I am not a nutritionist (I am a happiness coach), my overall health advice is for everyone to be mindful of what they put in their bodies and treat their bodies as temples if they want to achieve peak physical and emotional well-being.

2. Physical Exercise

“Gym is therapy” for our body, mind, and soul, as we are not designed for a sedentary lifestyle of sitting and being idle for extended periods of time. Instead, we should lead an active physical lifestyle, engaging in a range of exercises on a regular basis. By choosing a variety of activities that provide a comprehensive range of exercises, we can engage our entire body and leave ourselves feeling energized and alive.

3. Yoga

In itself, yoga can replace physical exercise because it is quite tough. However, I like to add some yoga exercises to my physical exercise routine, such as but not exclusively, stretches before and after working out, and to do some exercises in the morning and in the evening. Overall, I aim to keep my body able to move in many directions rather than being big, muscly, and stiff.

4. Acupuncture Mat

While I consider myself a healthy individual, as I follow many correct practices for long-term health, such as a healthy diet and physical exercise, I still feel the need for something extra to relax after a long busy day. For me, that extra is the acupuncture mat.

I have extensively written about the benefits of an acupuncture mat on our health and happiness in a separate article. In short, an acupuncture mat is similar to a yogi’s nail mattress, which naturally originated in India

However, in the Western world, we can also use acupuncture mats designed for people like you and me who aren’t yogis. As such, I personally use an acupuncture mat every few days, and I can assure you that it does wonders for my physical and therefore emotional well-being.

5. Massage

Acupuncture mats provide a type of massage that reaches deep tissues, inducing relaxation on a global level. However, it is important to note that acupuncture mats cannot fully replace the benefits of a professional massage. A skilled masseur or masseuse can work wonders for your body, which is why every professional sports team has a team of physiotherapists who regularly massage their players.

That being said, you don’t necessarily need a professional masseur. I personally have learned how to give a good massage and offer my services to others, asking for a massage in return. This exchange can be done for free.

To learn how to give a massage, we simply need to treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves. So, visit a massage salon, observe their techniques, and practice those techniques on others who will be happy to reciprocate.

6. Physical Touch

Physical touch is one of the five love languages. Therefore, depending on who I meet, I either give a hug, a handshake, casually touch the arm while talking, or engage in other forms of physical touch. I realize that physical touch is a fundamental human need, which is why it is important to act accordingly.

Overall

I see happiness as a formula and a puzzle. If we combine the correct pieces together, we can achieve happiness. However, if we neglect certain aspects, happiness becomes more challenging to attain. Therefore, it is helpful to familiarize ourselves with different elements of happiness, such as physical happiness as described above.

However, it is important to note that if you are unhappy today, the solution to your Optimal Happiness may lie outside of your physical well-being. That is why I invite you to explore the complete happiness formula and learn more about what Optimal Happiness can offer you.

“The problem is that of optimization,” states Roman Russo, author of Optimal Happiness: The Fastest & Surest Way To Reach Your Happiest Potential. There is plenty of advice on how to be happier or less sad, but no one is speaking about how to become the happiest we can be. And this is the difference that makes all the difference. By not looking at our maximum potential for happiness, we fall short of achieving it. After all, we all have hundreds of ideas on how to be happier or less sad, but most people still feel like they are not living their best lives. As such, Optimal Happiness explores the question of how to be the happiest we can be, regardless of who we are, where we are from, and what our life circumstances are. It proposes a complete and unconditional formula for happiness and explains how you too can become happy today and forever, inviting you to join the 1% happiness elite and become one of the happiest people alive.
